Date of birth
This is simply your birthday, 1 January 1960 for instance. If you do not know your date of birth it is not possible to cast a chart.

I don’t know my time of birth can I still have a chart cast?
This is probably the most frequently asked question, if you do not know your time of birth you are not alone. The answer is yes you can still have a chart cast, however there may be some limitations depending on what kind of chart you are seeking. NATAL BIRTH CHARTS usually use three kinds of data in their construction, transits, the positions of planets within the houses and which sign the planet was in at the time of birth. The most time dependent of the three are planets within houses, this also includes such information as your rising sign and mid-heaven. If you do not know your time of birth this part of the interpretation may well be wrong. Some astrologers cast charts set at twelve noon if you do not know your time of birth, though this is a convention that reduces the magnitude of error the chart could still be up to twelve hours out. Oberon Astrology do not use the twelve noon convention, if a birth charts is requested for time not known, the chart will eliminate any transit or event that could be incorrect as a result, thus giving you an accurate, though shorter, interpretation. You can still request a twelve noon chart, but bear the above information in mind, if you let me know that this is what you are doing I can include instructions on what to look out for. YEAR AHEAD CHARTS only use transits, and have the advantage that many transits may not have altered during the day of birth. If you find that a part of the forecast doesn’t appear to be happening when it should, the error in birth time will probably have caused the given dates to move forward or back by a few days and you can make adjustments for these variations.

I don’t know where I was born, how important is this?
Where you were born affects time. However this only going to be really significant if you do not know the country you were born, or where you were born in a large country. Like all things in astrology there is no substitute for accuracy.

If I don’t know the time I was born can I find out?
The method used in astrology is called rectification, this will normally involve sitting down with an astrologer who will ask for details of significant events in your life and then use these to try and narrow down the way your chart should adjusted to accommodate these events. Some people also use methods such as dowsing for a birth time.
